Some good news to add - US' 50 greenest cities (two of my favorite cities -- Portland, OR and Boston, MA in the top five). LA County is broken up into various cities so the cumulative green index is hard to fathom, but I really am proud of Austin, TX (the liberal bastion of Texas) for managing #10.
