Some good news, much needed
44 years ago, three college students were murdered in Mississippi for attempting to register black people to vote.

Tonight, for the first time in history, the Democratic citizens of Mississippi chose as their preferred nominee a black man.

As a lot of us at DU have been doing (thanks to Joan for the idea), I'd like to suggest we all send up some thanks to three very brave young men who paid the ultimate price to make this day possible -- Andrew Goodman, James Chaney, and Michael Schwerner.
