The banking situation is looking pretty scary. Just wanted to post a quick one as a warning --
there is the possibility of a bank holiday similar to the one during the FDR administration. Bear Stearns is the latest in the line of banking/financial failures and there are worse ones coming up. You'll want to strongly consider having some cash money on hand in all situations in case the banks close down -- it'll be a good idea to pack your pantry also since inflation will be bad afterward (even worse than now). Beans and rice are always handy to have on hand.

All I can say is John McCain had better kiss his political aspirations goodbye -- at this rate, the US is going to be the closest thing to bankrupt that we can be and all those pictures of Big John swapping spit with Little George will come back to haunt him. Little George finished his grandfather's job with an ironic twist. He destroyed us (which Prescott Bush, Hitler's banker and an all-around charming fellow, wanted to) but whereas Prescott tried to stage a coup against FDR, Little George is going to make another one necessary.

We're going to have our first black President, my friends, and he has one hell of a job ahead of him. I'm glad he's young.
