18 US Iraq/Afghanistan war veterans kill themselves *each day*
This is insane ...

120-125 US Iraqi and Afghan war vets are committing suicide every week -- it's averaging 18 a day.
And need I remind US folk of what has become of the Veterans Administration. There are those who talk a good game about "supporting the troops" and then those who actually support them.

Then again, if we can't expect simple compassion from BushCo for the hundreds of thousands of killed, maimed and orphaned children in Iraq never mind mercy for all the soldiers (from all countries) that have died ...

I was going to make a fun post tonight but I'll keep that till tomorrow. :(

Munch-related news, the last installment of Adams and Hilson stuff and one Earth Day thing
I'll put this at the top in honor of Earth Day ... Michigan family definitely at the top of the green wave.

I've no idea if this will actually make TPTB wake up and realize that tall Jewish guy in the corner (you know, SVU guys, Belzer ... the one that's on Bill Maher's show all the time) isn't an extra boom operator but an actual actor from the series, but it seems the new SVU guy Adam Beach (Detective Lake) is leaving the show.

The last installment of HBO's John Adams was Sunday ...
Adams last show review )

I'm working on another House/Wilson thing (more on that next week). I've also been talking with Mysti about reviving my Smalville novel since it had a kind of "fix it" plot strategy to it that I liked and that I think would make for a nice resolution novel for the end of it. The only problem is I watched a season 7 episode and .... yech. I stopped watching seasons ago when they went cartoonish with Lex but my heavens. Anyone been watching it to the end, you brave soul? I'm going to beg my poor beta Annie to be my regular beta, but I could use a storyline beta, too. Email me if you'd like to try (I'm pretty easy to work with -- and I've had my shots).

Lost another friend on the 17th. A wonderful writer and very bright spirit, Morgan Grayson, who had suffered all her life through one illness or another, passed away suddenly. I'll never forget our trip to an adult business convention when the guy with motion lotion started trying to sell us stuff. Being in the written end of the realm, we had no clue what it was. Morgie and I thought it was body wash or something. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard as when we found out what it really was. I'll miss you, Morgie. Working on the web means you get to know a lot of wonderful people -- which unfortunately means you must lose some of them.
