I just realized--I mean, it finally really hit me-- how batshit crazy fandom is. I guess that's by design-- I mean, you don't spend hours of your life talking to people you don't know about things none of you understand if you're wholly sane. I think that any participant in fandom probably has a tenuous relationship with reality, and of course I include myself in that.
However, I have never been, nor will I ever be, abusive to another member of my fandom purely to be a bully. I might disagree with someone, question their tactics of argument (it often seems like most people here forget how to objectively argue a point without abusing the person making it), wonder at the purpose of it all. I might express malcontent with an element of the show or something a member of TPTB said. I have never viciously attacked anyone online--in or out of fandom-- the way a frightening number of people in the House/Wilson comm seem to do as a matter of sport.
That's because I am capable of remembering that there are, in fact, other human beings on the other end of the series of tubes known as the internet. Yes, you can be hateful here. Yes, it's anonymous. No, you're not required to conform to anyone's standard of ethics, morals, or polite behavior. No, the internet itself is not "srs bsns". Being cruel is.
But that, like everything else on my livejournal, is an expression of-- you guessed it-- my opinion! So you're free to disagree, as ever. Me, I'm going to get a life, or rather, reclaim the pretty kickass one I already have. The one I don't need to substitute or enhance with fandom if fandom is no longer the fun enterprise it once was for me. And hey, getting a life? For all you people who consider insulting and bullying one another a pastime, I deeply recommend it.

I just read one of the best Pros stories. It's called Pleasure Proven by Kitty Fisher in Celebrations, Volume One. It's such a nice Bodie and Doyle-style romance. It's an AU, which I tend to take cautiously in Pros since many aren't for me, but something about Doyle and Bodie in this one just worked. It's hot and sexy and even has a bit of angst. Great dialogue, I thought. I could so see the lads right in front of my eyes, which means for me, the story is a big hit. I felt so happy after reading this one.

I am looking for a gen story I read a long time ago and have yet to be able to find. Jim was griping at Blair for leaving his stuff all over the loft (I think he was grading tests) and told Blair he better have all his stuff out of the living room before Jim got back that night. I don't remember how, but Blair was getting a ride from Simon and they came across a car wreck and stopped to help. There was a woman trapped in a car and Blair crawled into the car with her to keep her company - I don't remember if she died or was rescued. Simon realized there was more to Blair than he realized and started to respect him more. Blair got hurt either going into or getting out of the car but when he got back to the loft, he started cleaning up even though he was exhausted and hurt. Jim realized he was being an ass and helped Blair move his things back to the living room.
Hopefully this is enough to go on. I have been going crazy trying to find it.
Thanks!
Sabrina
For those of you wondering how I got those dragonfly shots in my most recent photo post, here's a video I took of me getting those shots. I sat there for a good 5 minutes before a dragonfly finally came near, and then I started recording:
Got over the tired long enough to drag myself out: am now even tired-er.
Got stupid state ID replaced finally.
Uwajimaya = awesome. Seriously thinking of moving to their apartment complex in July when our lease is up. Hate moving, but it would be worth it to live over a massive Asian grocery with food court and have in-unit laundry and on-site tea garden. Had bacon bun (they were out of hotdog bun) and tiramisu cheesecake for lunch. Nom nom. They were out of raspberry swiss rolls. Woe.
Purchased: small basic rice cooker, vitamin waters, matchta latte powder (mmmmmmmmm) and four packages of mystery flavoured gum. It's gonna be awesome.
Very cool link that I think comes from
elisem: uranium glass. It's RADIOACTIVE. I want some. <3
Side effect of the day: drymouth from hell due to increased Paxil dosage. OTOH, am feeling really quite fabulously zen at the moment, so is worth it in spades.
To do later: check out rice cooker, write this evening's drabble, maybe get a start on watching those BSG dvds I borrowed from the library.
Female cat is seriously in heat and is growling and licking herself and trying to make it with everything that moves.
Sometimes I eat the weirdest lunches. Today is pickled herring and leftovers of chicken carbonara pasta.
Then again, at Newville I was one of only two people who was eating canned carp (a period ration, and not as bad as people think), so maybe my tastebuds are a bit...off.
