Happy Birthday to the very kind and intelligent phinnia as well as the very smart and friendly john_booth. Hope it was a great day. I'd make you both a gif or something but I don't know what media stuff you may like (other than House for phinnia and everyone has already done that for you) so I'll owe you a gif and/or a song vid and say best wishes.

My darling husband (who also moonlights as my best friend) went to the store and picked up my favorite yogurt last night. I had purchased the wrong kind by mistake and so handed it along to one of my slender friends who like that kind. Larry (without prompting, mind you, or a net) swung by the store last night and bought the right yogurt. Thirty years now and he's my hero more and more each day.

Ah, and I meant to post the other day about another very gifted person on my friendlist (I have an embarrassment of riches with you people, I swan). The immortal carose59 who is probably one of the best poetry stylists in fandom, and who writes great essays and stories as well, is someone I'd urge everyone to read ... Monica Rose aka carose59.

I was also tagged by the wonderfully wise and funny brynnamorganto cite the people on my friendlist who "rock my world" (can I say that at my age?). Since you all do at one time or another, I'll just anoint all of you at once ... not tagging anyone, though (a couple of you would seriously hurt me if I did that).

The anti-depression regimen is definitely helping, can you tell? lol

We have another house possibility today. Our agent wants us to give another chance at buying a house with a pool so we're going to check out one in the next couple of days. We have hope. lol

Oh, and Happy Saint Patrick's Day. Since my Irish family were orange folk (although blue, of course, without light ... does that make us smurfs?), I won't wear green but I'll wish it to everyone to whom it applies.

You are most welcome.

May I thank you too, kind and illumined lady...

If you are typical of the people in fandom my sister might finally convert me, I could become the prodigal brother. (Though filk is out, you understand, I do have some standards.)

In English legend it is Californians who cannot understand our silly obsession on the subject of 'houses with pools'. This is because, on the whole, for us it is only a hopeless aspiration in a country where our houses are overpriced to the point of absurdity, and where my own house has gone from being described as a compact town house, to a spacious residence in twenty years. Thus, when an English person should make it big and cross the ocean to join his American cousins in Lala land, they have to buy a house with a pool.

I only just avoided being called Patrick btw. Orange and green have little relevance among the Irish when there is the chance of getting drunk, or such has been my own experience. And the important colour is black, be it Murphy's or the more ubiquitous Guiness.

Thank you, my friend. That's very kind of you to say. I would say I'd much rather attend a fan convention than one of anthropologists. Fans tend to be warm and accepting while anthropologists are the chimpanzee of scientific primates. Fandom does have its annoying elements, of course, but peoples iz peoples. BTW, despite my name, I am not allowed near filk conventions for the simple reason that I would be at serious risk of singing.

I'm a bit less than half-English so perhaps it's some kind of genetic calling to a swimming pool. lol Actually, it's because Larry and I are both fifty-something now (well, I almost am and he is already) and we're thinking the exercise couldn't hurt.

Oh boy, do I understand the Patrick thing. It was only through the intervention of my grandparents that I wasn't named Joy Noel ... I was born on Christmas Day. :)

Mel Blanc (voice of Bugs Bunny et al) famously named his son Noel when he was born on Christmas Day, making him White Christmas in translation.

PS According to folk law, doesn't your birthday make you a vampire? :-)

Poor Noel. lol At least he had the benefit of it being pronounced "Nole" and not "NoEL". My parents were initially going for "joyeaux noel" (or something reminiscent of it). But fate got in the way.

I'd always heard it made me a werewolf. Every full moon, I turn into a right-wing Republican. :)

I knew it was werewolf as soon as I pressed post.

Werewolves are far too intelligent to be republicans, unless it was for purely evil purposes of course :-)

Thank you so much for the kind words. They mean a lot.

And I'm so glad your anti-depressants are working for you! Perhaps this is the year of Not Being Depressed.
